Breathe Sedona a Huge Success!

Friday, September 16th, was a special day in Sedona. Over 50 people came to the Sedona Creative Life Center and experienced a free day of Shamanic Breathwork TM facilitated by Linda Star Wolf and Brad Collins, founders of the Venus Rising Association for Transformation. They were assisted by a team of Certified Shamanic Breathwork Facilitators and Shamanic Ministers who have been studying with them for the past year.

Star Wolf began the day with an inspiring talk about the importance of stepping into our power and transforming ourselves by connecting to our future-selves. Her new book called, Visionary Shamanism will be released in November and can be pre-ordered on Amazon. She then shared an overview of the day- which consisted of Shamanic Breathwork in the morning, followed by the Shakti Art Process. Then a healthy lunch donated by Pita Fresh, Dahl and DiLucca and Simply Dahlicious Catering.

We gathered in the afternoon and honored the sponsors of the event: John of God Casa, Peace Place Reiki Center, John Livingston, Kristin McGary, Inner Space, Nutrition with Jane, Christine Ryan-Schmierer, Sedona Intuitive Astrology, W. Interiors and Your Heart’s Home Retreat.

We then proceeded with the afternoon SBW followed by the Shakti Art Process. After completing the second round we broke into 12 small process groups. Each group was led by an experienced facilitator who supported each person as they shared their SBW experience and art with the group.

Before closing we came together in as a large group and people shared. They described their process as powerful, healing, transformational, life-changing, safe, loving and awesome. There were several comments about how much gratitude people felt for this free event and for all who made it possible.

The planning committee, who are all Shamanic Breathwork Facilitators, were acknowledged for their hard work. They include: Crystal Dawn Morris,John Livingston, Meredith Davis, John Berry Deakyne, Tracy Roman, Dean Taraborelli and Kelley Alexander.

We ended the day by holding hands and singing a song. What a wonderful day of healing and celebration!

The Mystical Songs of Lalla

Lalla’s poetry is always an inspiration for me.   She was born in Kashmir in northern India in 1320 and died in 1392.  She was both, a mystic of the Kashmiri Shaivite sect and a Sufi saint. Her poetry are some of the earliest compositions in the Kashmiri language.  She is the Kashmiri equivalent of Germany’s Hildegard of Bingen.

Lalla married at age twelve and moved into her husband’s family home. She was mistreated by her mother-in-law and  her husband. In her early 20s, she left left her marriage and became a disciple of a respected saint in the Kashmir Shaivism tradition of tantra. She dedicated her life to Lord Shiva. Lalla was called to wander from village to village,  nearly naked, and singing songs of rapture. Her short, simple, and direct songs spoke to common people. Her words  open a window to the soul and allow Truth to be seen.

The Power of Shamanic Breathwork

The 3 Keys of SkyDancing Tantra are breath, sound and movement and all are incorporated in the Shamanic Breathwork process. Breathwork is a powerful tool for healing and transformation. Over the years I have experienced may different forms of breathwork; from Lamaze breathing, when I had my kids, to body-centered therapy, and Osho’s active breath meditations, so I wasn’t expecting Shamanic Breathwork to be that that different from other things I had done before.

I was first introduced to Shamanic Breathwork by Linda Star Wolf and Brad Collins in Sedona, May of 2010. Since I was already familiar with breathwork and shamanism I mainly attended their event to meet them and show my support for their work. I was blown-away by my first Shamanic Breathwork journey. The combination of the music, circular breathing, shamanic healing and sacred art was profound. I recognized that this was something I wanted to become proficient at and share with others. Since then I have experienced the process 12 times. Each time has been powerful and unique. Over the past 9 months I have experienced many benefits from this work. It has unlocked and cleared old patterns and enhanced my ability to live in flow and trust Source.

Here are a few testimonials from others:

I have found the Shamanic Breathwork Process to be incredible for me at a personal level. It has helped to open doors that I didn’t even know I had. It has also been a remarkable tool to use in my workshops for health professionals.

– Lee Lipsenthal, MD, ABHM

CEO, Finding Balance in a Medical Life

As holistic physicians, my husband and I are familiar with many different modalities and have seen the value in looking “outside the box” of traditional Western medical techniques. Shamanic Breathwork is one of the most powerful healing modalities we have seen. It gets to the heart of the physical, emotional or spiritual problem in order for shifts to occur very rapidly. In addition, it taps into the person’s core strengths and honors the deep wisdom within us all, since true healing inevitably starts from within.

– Molly Roberts, MD, MS

Physician

Synchronicity Center & Canyon Ranch Health Resort

Tucson, Arizona

I confess that I approached the technique of breathwork with some skepticism as to its value, having tried so many experiences that failed to make a meaningful difference in my life. Well, all it took was a one day introductory Shamanic Breathwork session for me to know that this unique combination of altered state experiencing of guided, theme based teachings was an extremely effective method of processing core level issues, issues that can be huge stumbling blocks to our spiritual progress.

I am truly thankful for the blessing this program has been for me, and would highly recommend it to anyone dedicated to their spiritual journey. Nothing I have experienced previously has been more beneficial. It has made a believer out of me in the work being done here, and I intend to support it in any way that I can.

Shamanic Breathwork Intensive Sept, 10-16

Dear friends,

I am very excited about the upcoming Shamanic Breathwork™ Intensive workshop led by Linda Star Wolf and Brad Collins. They are the founders of the Venus Rising Institute for Shamanic Healing Arts. Many of you may have heard of Star Wolf’s work. She is a well known author; her latest book is Shamanic Breathwork; Journeying beyond the Limits of the Self. She and Brad have an extensive background in various breath work modalities, therapeutic processes as well as Shamanic healing practices. The Shamanic Breathwork™ Intensive is a powerful technique for healing and transformation.

I have used a variety of breath work practices over the years and found the Shamanic Breathwork™ to be a unique approach. I personally had an amazing experience when I attended their one-day event here on June 24th. My experience was so powerful that I decided I wanted to be trained in facilitating this process for others. I spoke with Brad and Star Wolf after that event and asked them if they would return here and teach the Intensive. I was delighted when they agreed, as the developers of this process they are exceptional teachers and guides.

This event is something you won’t want to miss. Please look at Star Wolf and Brad’s website to learn more about the training, https://shamanicbreathwork.org/index.php . The workshop is from September 10th through the 16th and will be held at the Sanctuary at Sedona. The link to the flyer is attached below with the details. You can come to the workshop for solely for your own healing experience and/or you can come with the intent to become a certified Shamanic Breathwork facilitator.

The Sanctuary is an ideal place to experience deep transformation. It is a powerful place to reconnect with mother earth and Spirit. There will be meals loaded with pure life force energy cooked by vegetarian chefs with ingredients from the garden. There are limited rooms and other sleeping accommodations available for those who would like to stay at The Sanctuary.

Please register as soon as possible to reserve your space in the workshop.

Tantra – A Spiritual Path for Planetary Awakening

I recently discovered this article on my friend Jivana’s website https://www.tantrichealingtouch.com/ and it is reprinted with her permission. This article does a wonderful job of explaiing that tantra is about much more than sex, it is about the transformation of global consciousness. I hope you enjoy it! I would love to hear your comments.

TANTRA: AN ANCIENT SPIRITUAL PATH FOR PLANETARY AWAKENING
INTO A NEW AGE OF LOVE AND ONENESS
by JIVANA KENNEDY

If you’re like many people I know, the word Tantra conjures images of generously endowed gods and goddesses in lusty cement poses, circling ancient temples in the Far East. At a glance, it may generate thoughts of a hedonistic culture that fell to it’s demise through over indulgence in the physical senses. When you hear it in a modern context does it cause discomfort for reasons not fully understood by the conscious mind?

Please allow me to attempt to demystify the ancient spiritual path of tantra, and try to reveal how it may relate to a great healing of our planet and Her people. I use the pronoun ‘Her’ because in Her fertility and Her ability to recreate life, the earth may be seen as a ‘she’….and in that sense she requires the male principle to spark and protect her generativity so that she may continue her cycles of replenishment. The yin and the yang that make up the whole. No higher or lower is implied here. Both are vital to the creation of balance and wholeness.

The ultimate goal or essential experience of the ancient tantrika was union with God. Oneness with all life. Sometimes called nirvana, or samadhi, or enlightenment. The ancient tantrikas had awakened to the reality that in the depths of sexual union, partners became gods and goddesses, illuminated by the uninhibited flow of source energy. Thus the union of the lovers became an energetic prayer that blessed the relationship, the family, the community and the world. These ancients were a matriarchal culture honoring the abundant capacity of the feminine principle to open, energize and shine light, beauty, and replenishment upon all within her energyfield. They understood that all sentient beings emerge from the union of male and female and to honor this aspect of life was to bring honor to the forces of nature, and nurture their divinity.

But to think that tantra was all about sex is akin to thinking the tail is the elephant. The tantric path was about bringing awareness and balance to every aspect of life. And thus the use of meditation to quiet the mind, bring attention into the body and into the present moment was one of the vital disciplines of the tantric initiate. They saw themselves as a part of a much greater interconnected whole and dedicated their union responsibly to the balance and upliftment of the whole. Does that make you wonder what kind of world we might be living in now if that path had flourished? It does me.

Emerging out of the awareness of the physical empowerment and spiritual enlightenment that became available in the union of two, came the path of yoga, which also means union with the divine, and seeks to harness the power of source energy through awareness of breath, postures and disciplines, and create a meditative awareness in the yogi and yogini. Tantra yoga is the aspect of yoga and one of a very few spiritual paths on our planet that uses the most vital force of nature to create more consciousness of the god that dwells within and animates physical form.

Well then, where did we go wrong? I suppose if we look at our current planetary predicament from a place of non-duality then everything is at this moment, perfect as it is. All is just grist for the evolutionary mill. But a quick look at some of the historical elements (and forgive me here… I am a very simple historian), may evoke a spark of a ha..

The postulation that Christ and Magdalene were adepts in the Egyptian mystery schools, married and tantric lovers is not the exclusive idea of Dan Brown in the Da Vinci Code. Many contemporary religious and secular writers believe this, and I have heard it said that Christ evoked the power of their sacred union to endure the crucifixion. Then as the Christian religions were forming, and men were exerting their dominance and control, Magdalene became a whore and sex became a sin, except in situations deemed virtuous by the all powerful patriarchal church. And humanity as a whole, began to fear and mistrust its own basic nature. I ask you, what might the world look like if Christ were not the celibate son of a virgin mother, and Magdalene was not cast as a prostitute? The implication that sex is bad is buried deep in our collective psyche.. The contemporary theologian Matthew Fox calls the church’s attitude towards sex the mortal sin of religion. And the Indian Tantric master Osho claimed that sex was the elemental pathway to the flowering of love and consciousness. To repress a society is to be able to control it, and limits growth, awareness and spiritual development.

In my practice for the past 16 years I see daily the fallout of this. People starving for touch and intimacy, who are as though traversing a foreign territory. We have all the tools to dangerously overpopulate the earth, but have we yet harnessed the love to sustain it?

We need to reclaim and honor the wholesomeness of our natural humanity, forgive each other for our past blindness, and emerge a victorious people moving purposefully into a new age of love, peace, sensuality and enlightenment. This then frees us to replenish our beautiful planet with our love, and the ecstatic recognition of our intrinsic and eternal Oneness..

Tantra Tip of the Day- Transforming the Shadow into an Ally

The Shadow is the disowned parts of our selves. They may be gods, fears or demons, things we worship or things we fear. When we are able to transform our shadow into an ally we can access a vast amount of energy that can then be used in positive ways in our lives.

I have been fascinated by the power of reclaiming the shadow for many years. Shortly after 9/11/2000, I spent several months working both personally and globally healing the shadow that was being projected in the media as an, us and a them. This work changed my life, teaching me tolerance, compassion and self-acceptance.

I recently discovered a great book that shares a healing method that has many of the qualities I discovered as I was doing this work. I was surprised to learn that it is based on an ancient Buddhist practice called Chod. The book is called Feeding Your Demons by Tsultrim Allione. She has taken the essence of the Chod practice and simplified it for our modern secular culture. She has developed a simple 5 step process that allows you to explore a god or demon, as she calls them, by communicate with it, embodying it and feeding it what it needs to be healed and transformed. I highly recommend this book. Sounds True has an audio version called Cutting Through Fear, in which she explains the process and also guides you through it.

Highlights of the Dance of Shakti and Shiva Weekend- 2/14/09

Last weekend I co-facilitated, with Michael Pooley, a workshop called the Dance of Shakti and Shiva: Creating Harmonious Relationships. Friday night we introduced the workshop with a fun process called the Yin and Yang Line Dance. It was open to the public and lots of laughter arose as participants took turns exploring their relationship to masculine and feminine through dance.

Saturday was a day of exploration. It is a gift to watch the light bulbs go off as participants gained new insights about their inner man and inner woman. The approach was fun and experiential, you learn by having your own process. Rather than having an idea about what your inner woman might look like, think, do or say you get to meet her and have a dialog with her and your inner man as well. Saturday night there was a powerful ritual that gave very one an opportunity to practice the art of giving and receiving.

Sunday was a day of healing and transformation, which included expressing and witnessing withheld emotions about the opposite gender. The weekend ended with an amazing Heart Wave meditation done in dyads. This practice is based on ancient Tibetan Buddhist practice. It allows you to melt into your partner and feel the Divine. Our time together was so rich it was hard to leave after the closing circle ended.

I look forward to offering this again next year. I would love bring my classes to your community. https://www.tantraforawakening.com

Tantra Tip of the Day – The Power of Sound

See if you can hear the Divine singing to you in all the sounds you hear today.

Last night I had the great fortune to attend a sound healing experience. I was surrounded by sounds of wind, water, fire and earth through a variety of instruments. I found myself being taken on a journey into the center of my being that is silent, still and limitless.

Sound is a powerful tool for being present, focusing attention, lulling you asleep, calming the nerves and enlivening the body. Music is a great gift that can heal and transform.

Today notice the sounds of your life. How do they affect you? Are they healing? Give yourself a sound healing break today; listen to some music that nourishes your body and soul. Let this music heal and transform whatever is no longer serving you. Let sound be your touch stone today.

The healing event I attended was facilitated by Jon Reinschreiber https://shamanicvibrations.com and Erika Kightlinger.
