Eye Gazing and Communion – A Poem

Eye Gazing and Communion

Warmth shining on my face
My heart flowing into yours
Connection grows
You seeing me
Like honey, so sweet

Diving deeper into a dark pool
Still, calm and familiar
A homecoming
I see you
Like honey, so sweet

Energy grows and flows
Expands and melts all boundaries
Tears, smiles, tears and smiles
We know each other
Beyond form
Sisters of light and emptiness

Tantra Tip of the Day – Send Love into the World

Today my heart is open and flowing with love. There is no particular reason I can point to. I planted some flowers in my garden today and just digging in the soil felt good and now rain clouds rolling in to water my new plants. I realize just how blessed I am to be alive. I feel so much gratitude for my life.

As I think of all the things I am grateful for, a long list rolls out before me, to long to put here. I feel connected to so many wonderful people. I feel I am giving my gifts to the world. I am blessed to have good relationships with the people I love. I live in a beautiful place. I have a healthy body. I’m aware of my connection to Source.

When you focus on what is flowing in your life and feel appreciation for it, love naturally flows out of your heart. When love flows out, it naturally attracts love back. If you need love, then give love. The fastest and easiest way to get anything in life is to give it to others first. Be open to receiving what flows back even if it doesn’t look the way to thought it would. If you don’t much flowing back to you make sure you are open to recieve.

Try this: Breathe into your heart for 5 minutes and imagine that your heart is a “Love Star.” As you breathe into your heart this star gets brighter and brighter. Allow your whole chest to feel warm and brightbefore you send the love out into the world. You can send it either to a particular person, group of people or to the planet in general. Do this three times today and tomorrow. See what happens. How do you feel? How do people feel about you.

Tantra Tip of the Day – Let Your Heart Speak

“It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.”
Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Your heart has its own intelligence. It naturally communicates to you through your emotional guidance system, that feeling you get, when something “just feels right.” Some people are tuned into their hearts, while others may routinely override their heart’s guidance.

This simple exercise is a great way to have direct communication to your heart’s wisdom.

Try this: Lay down in a place where you will not be disturbed for at least 30 minutes. Breathe slowly and deeply into your belly until you begin to relax. Then focus you’re attention on your heart and begin breathing into it. Notice what images, sensations and thoughts arise. Then consciously connect with your heart and invite it to speak and share its wisdom with you. Let it use your voice to speak to aloud you. Record or write down what you discover. Make sure the heart speaks in first person. Example: I, (heart,) desire more time in warm water. Not, my heart says she wants to spend more time in warm water. Allow yourself to connect deeply with your heart and listen to what it has to say. There may be pauses as you tune in and listen, continue for 5-10 minutes or until you feel complete. At the end thank your heart for sharing it wisdom.

Tantra Tip of the Day- Compassion is a Practice

Compassion for all beings is the foundation for all Tantric practice. The motivation to achieve enlightenment is born out of a desire to help others to awaken and to help end suffering for all beings. This practice is called Bodhichitta, which means “awakening mind.” In Buddhism the mind is associated with the heart and not the head. Bodhichitta also is associated with wisdom and spaciousness. So to activate compassion you awaken the heart with both wisdom and spaciousness.

Compassion is different from sympathy which can sometimes cause a feeling of being over whelmed by the suffering of others. If you become overwhelm by such emotions you are now one of those who is suffering. If you are suffering you loose your equanimity. Practicing compassion requires equanimity, an open heart and the intent to help others in every moment as much as you are able. Equanimity is an unbiased attitude toward all beings and is the foundation for practicing Bodhichitta. It is a state of being which requires awareness and letting go of attachment or aversion.

Here is a meditation for cultivating equanimity. Imagine you are surrounded by three people; one is your best friend, one your enemy or someone you dislike and one is a complete stranger to you. Now examine your feelings towards each of these people and see why you have labeled them friend, enemy and stranger. As you explore your feelings notice that these labels are impermanent. Your friend could move away and no longer be important to you. Your feelings for your enemy might be resolved if she offered to help you through a crisis. A stranger could become your friend or lover. In doing this meditation you can begin to let go of your attachment to your friends, aversion to your enemies and indifference to a stranger.

See if you can find a place of peace within yourself that allows you to see each person from a place of compassion. Generate the desire that all beings awaken and no longer suffer. You are practicing the beginning stages of Bodhichitta.

4 Keys to Keeping Your Heart Open in Challenging Times

Four Keys Keeping Your Heart Open in Challenging Times.

The past month has been a challenging time. The world economy has been at risk. The stock market has been bi-polar. The election is up for grabs. Fear is rampant in the media. In the face of all of this it is easy to have fear seep into your life and to close down your heart. I have experienced this personally and I have heard this over and over from people around me.

I don’t listen to TV or radio and seldom read the newspaper because I don’t want to be affected by the fear-mongering media. Still, I found myself slipping into a dark place and feeling a bit lost. In part, this is because of my sensitivity to the energy around me. In part, to too some healing I was doing on my inner child. In part, it was to Mercury being in retrograde. In part, I was reacting to an important relationship in my life. My mind became filled with negative thoughts and the need to figure out what was going on. My heart closed down and my inner child felt abandoned. When our heart closes down and our mind is feed by fear it is easy to get lost in the darkness.

I usually move through these kinds of challenges pretty quickly, in a few hours or a few days. This past month it took almost two weeks before I was able to see the clouds begin to part. Even as this was happening my witness was watching and seeing how stuck I was, and offered me love. As I became aware of that love I was finally able to recognize that my heart was closed. As soon as I felt into my heart and began to open it the clouds lifted and the sun shone on my face once again.

Here are four keys to keeping your heart open in challenging times:
1) Awareness is the first key. Check in with your heart every morning and night and notice if it is open or closed or somewhere in between.
2) Breathe into your heart. Rub your hands together and send love into them. When they begin to get hot place them over your heart and take the love into the cells of your body and your being. Let the love expand as you breathe it in.
3) Offer gratitude for all you have. Appreciate the abundance in your life and be generous with others less fortunate than you. Feel compassion for them and send love out to those that are homeless, hungry, sick, or in trouble.
4) Here is another practice I find helpful. It is from ancient Sanskrit prayer called the Gayatri, which I am paraphrasing here. Either go outside or imagine the sun shining into your heart and address the sun in this way:
You who are the source of light energy,
Whose rays illuminate the whole world,
Please illuminate my heart so that
I too may do Your work.

I hope you find these tools helpful.
Namaste.

Sedona Tantra Meetup Group

On Monday, August 11, I as invited to the Arizona Tantra Meetup Group in Phoenix to do a presentation on SkyDancing Tantra. Twenty-five people came and we had a wondeful time learning how to open our inner flutes, move our energy and feel more alive and present. I then facilitated the group in a Heart Puju. A puja is a living prayer, in which we open to the the Divine within us and see the Divine in others. I had such a great time with this group that it has inspired me to form a group here in Sedona.

Here is the link if you want to join. https://tantric.meetup.com/68

Our first meeting is Wed. Sept. 17, at 7 pm in West Sedona. I look forward to having an active on going Tantra Community in Sedona. I hope to see you there.
