The BLISS Meditation Challenge

Presence is the sense I-Am or I Exist. It is the space in which all experiences arise. All appearances are made of Presence-Energy. Energy is another word for vibration. Thoughts are made of Presence-Energy. Every thought vibrates with a specific frequency. The higher the frequency of the thought the better you feel while thinking it.

The purpose of this practice is to discover that you can shape how you experience reality by harnessing the vibration of your thoughts. Simply focus on and stay aligned with positive high vibration thoughts and discover that you have the power to positively shape your reality by consciously choosing your frequency.  As you begin to resonate at a high vibration life begins to match your frequency.

The Challenge is to set aside a 2 hour block of time to do this practice. For 2 hours you will focus on a positive thought for 10 seconds out of every minute. I resonated with the vibration of BLISS.  You want to choose the most exciting or inspiring thought you can think that is not dependent on outside conditions. In other words, “I am bliss embodied.” I love life.” “Giving my gift feels good.” “This moment rocks.” Not, “I won the Lotto.” Or “Angela Jolie loves me.”

I used the acronym B.L.I.S.S. See below. The last S is Space for whatever thought is most exciting for you in the moment.

BEING – Presence-Consciousness
LOVE – Awareness that All-Is-One
INSPIRES – Bursting with Creativity
SPONTANEUOS – Freedom Now
SPACE …. For Whatever Feels Most Exciting and Expansive Now

If these words don’t feel good to you, pick your own. Experiment to see what thought or thoughts most resonate for you.

“I am amazing.”
“Life is awesome.”
“I Love Existence.”

If you do this practice for 2 hours you will discover just how powerful you are. You will move beyond your limiting beliefs and discover how to begin manifesting your dreams effortlessly as a conscious creator.

7 Benefits of Sexual Healing for Women

By Crystal Dawn Morris

What is sexual healing? Sexual healing is the art of resolving the sexual shame, guilt and fear held in the bodymind. When sexual shame, guilt and fear are denied, repressed or ignored,  they can led to physical symptoms such as chronic vaginal or bladder infections, decreased libido, painful intercourse, PMS, painful periods and difficulties in navigating the transition into menopause. They can also cause psychological problems such as anxiety, depression and love/sex addiction.

Trauma held in the genitals can begin early in life due to insensitive potty training, especially if it involves physical or emotional abuse, or when children are shamed for their natural curiosity involving genital touch, masturbation or “playing doctor.”  Trauma can occur due to feelings of fear or shame around puberty- wondering if you are developing normally or being made to fear menstruation as “the curse.”

When this trauma is held in the body, it creates a contraction or holding in the tissues called “body armoring”, which prevents the natural flow of energy, awareness and sensations. When this holding is experienced in the sexual organs, it is called “genital armoring”. Some common causes of sexual trauma for women are medical procedures such as pelvic exams, abortion, childbirth and hysterectomy. More severe forms of genital armoring are caused by trauma from unwanted sexual advances, especially rape and/or incest, as well as from religious guilt related to sex outside of marriage, unhealthy sexual boundaries while being intoxicated and having unwanted sex out of a sense of obligation, to name a few.  Even people without any overt sexual trauma can develop milder forms of genital armoring due to conditioning from our sex-negative culture – which simultaneously glorifies sex on the one hand while condemning it on the other.

As mentioned above, genital armoring can cause a variety is sexual problems in women, including decreased sensation in the clitoris and vagina, lack of vaginal lubrication, painful intercourse, hypersensitivity to touch and/or an inability to feel pleasure or orgasm during sex, as well as, psychological problems such as anxiety, depression and/or love and sex addiction. Often, these health issues are not recognized as being directly related to sexual wounding.

Instead of the root cause- sex wounding, being address directly, the symptoms are given a medical diagnosis and treated with drugs. For many women, this leads to years of feeling that something is fundamentally wrong with them, because the treatment is focused on symptoms instead of on the armoring in the bodymind. Occasionally, a woman may seek out or be referred to a psychotherapist to address emotional issues related to sexual trauma. Unfortunately, most psychotherapists have not healed their own sexual wounds, so their ability to facilitate sexual healing maybe ineffective or, at best, limited. If a woman is fortunate enough to find a therapist who is adept at addressing her sexual issues, she is still faced with the limitations of psychotherapy, addressing the psycho-emotional aspects of sexual healing and ignoring the physical and energetic trauma still held in the body.

Sexual Healing can take a variety of forms. On rare occasions, it can occur spontaneously. It has been known to happen during various types of breathwork sessions. It can occur during energy work, such as reiki- sometimes intended, sometimes as an unexpected side-effect. The most powerful forms of sexual healing holistically address the body/mind/spirit aspects of sexuality while utilizing hands-on sexual healing. There are a variety of modalities that use holistic hands-on sexual healing to address sexual trauma and genital armoring. These include the SkyDancing Tantra™ Pelvic Healing and Multi-Orgasmic Response processes, Sacred Spot Massage, Pelvic Heart Integration, to name a few of the more well-known modalities. These modalities require training and experience. They are best done by an experienced practitioner.

However, sexual healing for women, at its most basic, simply involves touching the “Yoni” (a Sanskrit term for the female genitals) either physically or energetically with presence and compassion. Because genital touch is almost always associated either with sex or a medical procedure, having your Yoni touched with awe and reverence, specifically for your benefit, can be a powerful and life-changing experience. The woman whose Yoni is being held in this way surrenders as fully as possible into the experience. She is invited to remain open, curious and present throughout the process. She is encouraged to communicate what she is feeling and is free to express and release what has been held in her Yoni. As the genital armoring is released, the area may be flooded with feelings of warmth, pleasure, irritation, emotion, orgasmic energy or a sense of vast spaciousness. Eventually, there is a natural sense of completion. The temple gate of the Yoni is “closed” by placing the palm of the hand over the entrance of the vagina with great presence and sensitivity.

A few of the benefits of sexual healing for women are:

1)      Feeling more ease and openness in the body.

2)      Improved quality and quantity of her orgasms.

3)      She invites pleasure through sensuality and sexuality.

4)      Being more present and authentic with herself and others.

5)      The ability to live in the flow which enhances overall health and well-being.

6)      A renewed connection her true nature as unconditional love and freedom.

7)      Letting go of mental, physical and emotional blocks related to shame, guilt and fear.

Better Sex Tonight, Awakening the Full Body Orgasm

Tantra uses sexual energy to expand awareness and experience ecstasy. It teaches people how to move their sexual energy from their genitals, up to the top of their head, and everywhere in between, allowing the entire physical and energetic body to become ecstatic. When the sexual energy reaches the crown it can expand a persons awareness of the mystical realms, allowing them to recognize they are Divine Consciousness in human form.A full body orgasm is the experience of feeling your whole body vibrating with orgasmic energy. This can be done outside of a sexual context as well as while making love. Anyone can learn how to have a full body orgasm by following the steps below.

7 steps for Opening the Inner Flute:

1) Stand with your knees hip width apart and slightly bent.

2) Breathe through your mouth and deep into the belly, allowing it to expand begin activating your sexual energy.

3) Once you have master the belly breath you can increase the intensity by inhaling as if you are sipping through straw. Exhale with an open mouth and release a deep sound from the belly. Sound also intensifies the expansion of energy.

4) Now, allow your pelvis to begin rocking. Keeping the knees bent, let your pelvis rotate freely. As you inhale rock the hips back, arching the small of the back. As you exhale, tuck the tail bone under, flattening the small of the back. Breath, sound and movement are the 3 Keys of Sky Dancing Tantra.

5) Next, add the PC pump. As you inhale squeeze the pelvic floor muscles pulling them upwards and as you exhale let them relax back down. It feels a bit like you are trying to stop and start a stream of urine. These are sometimes called Kegel exercises.

6) Put all the steps together. As you inhale imagine you are breathing the energy up from your root to your heart. Practice this until you feel the energy pulsing from your root to your heart. You can play with speeding up and slowing down your respiratory rate.

7) Once you have mastered connecting root and heart move the energy up to the crown. Practice until you can feel the energy flowing from your root to your crown. See yourself as a rainbow bridge of light connecting Earth and Sky.

This is a wonderful way to get your energy flowing. Once the Inner Flute is open you are ready to learn how to expand the energy and experience the Full Body Orgasm. There are 3 steps to this process:

1) The Streaming Reflex helps you recognize that your body is made of ecstatic energy which you can stimulate and expand whenever you want to. You learn to experience orgasmic energy outside of a sexual context and discover that you can awaken your own pleasure body with out genital contact. The practice-You begin by standing with your feet hip width apart and knees bent. Allow your thighs to begin to vibrate side to side. Allow the vibration the spread up and down the body until your whole body is vibrating. It is helpful to do this with music, I recommend Osho’s Kundalini Meditation CD.

2) The Ecstatic Response is the process of being relaxed in high states of arousal. You learn to become a bigger container for ecstatic energy and to relax fully letting the energy naturally expand. The effect is one of sexual excitement and deep peace. When you master the ecstatic response you move beyond the genital orgasm and discover the full body orgasm. The practice- After several minutes of your whole body streaming lay down on the floor with your knees bent and your feet close together. Let your knees gently fall apart like a butterflies wings opening. Allow your body to relax fully and continue to open and close your knees. This process allows the ecstatic energy to spread throughout the body. This is best done listening to gentle, relaxing music.

3) Once you mastered Opening the Inner Flute and the Full Body Orgasm outside a sexual context you can introduce these practices into your love making and experience them within a sexual context. Sex becomes an alchemical experience that transforms the physical body into the Bliss Body.

Yoni Talk Listens to Your Body’s Wisdom

In Tantra we use ritual names for our genitals. We call the vagina, “Yoni,”which is a Sanskrit word that means cosmic matrix.  It is possible to tap into the wisdom held in this sacred part of the body. This practice allows you to access the wisdom held in your Yoni. You are lending your voice to your Yoni so it can communicate with you directly. The more you are able to relax and surrender to this process the easier it is to access the wisdom of your Yoni and experience its unique voice. This practice can be done alone or with a partner.

Set aside 30-60 minutes for this practice. Make sure the phone is turned off and let other people in your home know not to disturb you for the next hour. This practice can be done alone or with a partner. If done alone have your journal nearby so you can take notes afterwards. You may also choose to record the experience. If done with a partner, only one person speaks and the other acts as a witness. The witness may take notes if that feels appropriate to both parties. The witness should not interrupt the speaker while they are allowing their Yoni to speak.

The Heart Salutation

Begin this practice with a Heart Salutation. This is done by extending your arms towards the earth with your palms together. Then, inhale and keeping your hands in prayer position, bring them to your heart. Exhale, as you bow forward and acknowledge the Divine within yourself and each other. Inhale, as you straighten back up. Finally, exhale as you allow your hands to return to the starting position, pointed towards the earth.

The Bubble

Now, create a bubble around you (and your partner). Do this by waving your arms around both of you as you define the shape of the bubble that surrounds you. You will then be removing things from this bubble that won’t serve you during this practice (the past, distractions, anger, worry, etc.) Do this by making a gesture as if removing an object from your bubble and verbally share what you are removing from the bubble out loud. Then, Next, state what things you want to bring into the bubble, these are things that will enhance your connection (love, willingness, presence, trust etc.) Make a gesture as if physically bringing them into the bubble. Creating the bubble helps to call you into present moment awareness and creates a safe space in which to practice Yoni Talk

Share Your Desires, Fears and Boundaries

Once the bubble is created, share your intentions/desires, fears and boundaries related to this practice. First, one person speaks while the other person listens without judgment or commentary. Then you switch roles. Here is an example:

“I desire to stay present, open and connect deeply my Yoni.”

“My fear is that I will get self-conscious and freeze up.”

“My boundary is to stay connected, to feel what is arising and share even if I start to cry.”

Why boundaries? When I teach this practice in my classes, people often have resistance to setting boundaries. I explain that boundaries are not walls, they are bridges. Bridges helps to bring people together. Intimacy happens when people have healthy boundaries. Healthy boundaries allow you to feel safe, stay open and be present. Boundaries are dynamic, so it is important to check-in periodically with yourself to see if your boundaries have changed. If they have changed, update your partner so they can honor your new boundaries. Here are a few examples:

“I need to end this practice by 10 pm.”

“I want to stay present and open to your support. I would like you to remind me to open my eyes if I seem to be disconnecting from you.”

Yoni Talk

Sit or lie down in a comfortable position. Take slow, gentle, relaxing breaths into your belly. Relax deeply for about several minutes. As your exhale, breathe out any tension you are holding. As you inhale, breathe in life force energy (pnana/chi/ki) and feel your body becoming energized. Once you are relaxed, focus your attention on your Yoni and place your hands over Yoni. Breathe into Yoni and begin to tune into this part of your body. Ask her what she would like to be called ( Sacred Flower, Cosmic Cave or..) Invite her to speak.Say out loud, something like “Sacred Flower, (use the name she has shared with you,) I desire to receive your wisdom and invite you to speak to me and give you my voice.” Then allow Yoni to speak to you, in the first person, “I,Sacred Flower, want to share that I have been feeling ignored lately. I notice you … I would like…. It would be helpful if…” Continue to tune in for 15 minutes or longer. There may be phases as the information is accessed. Stay present with the process until it feels complete. End with a Heart Salutation.

If you are alone, take time to journal. If you are with a friend, share your experience verbally. Take a short break and then switch roles.

Notice how this experience impacts your life over the next few days and weeks.

Opening the Inner Flute

The ‘Inner Flute,” is the SkyDancing Tantra™  term, for what you may know as the Central Channel or Sushumna. The purpose of this practice is to access and expand awareness of the life-force energy that moves naturally through the body. This practice supports you in being present, having a relaxed body-mind and an open heart. Another benefit is that it helps to amplify and redistribute sexual energy throughout the whole body. This practice is based on the teachings of SkyDancing Tantra™.

The Three Keys of Tantra

1. Breath

2. Sound

3. Movement

We are born knowing Tantra! The three keys are natural and fundamental to the human condition. The first independent act we take at birth is to breathe. After our first breath, we cry (sound) which expands the lungs. These two important acts are crucial for infants to make the shift from living in their mother’s womb to being able to live and breathe on their own. Next, the infant begins to move its arms and legs and explore the space around him/her.

The following practices can be done either standing with legs hip-width apart and knees slightly bent or lying comfortably on your back with the knees bent and feet flat on the floor. I recommend trying it both ways.

The Sipping Breath and “AHHH” Sound

The Sipping Breath amplifies awareness of the inhalation and allows you to draw the air deep into the abdomen. This type of breathing increases the amount of oxygen circulating in the body, which increases the sense of vitality and pleasure we can feel.

1. Begin by puckering your lips as if you are sipping through a straw. Leave a slight gap between the lips and inhale deeply through the mouth, allowing your abdomen to expand fully.

2. Then, relax the mouth and let the air flow out effortlessly, while making the sound “AHHH.”

The Pelvic Rock

Next, we add the external movement, called the Pelvic Rock. This practice opens the sacrum and helps to activate the sexual energy stored in the pelvic bowl.

1. In this practice, you will be focusing on moving the pelvis, by rotating it forward and backward. As you inhale, arch the lower back as the buttocks will stick out slightly. As you exhale, tuck the tailbone under, flattening the lower back. As the pelvis rotates, the whole spinal column is naturally engaged. This causes the head to fall back slightly (as you arch the back) and fall forward slightly (as you round the back).

2. Once you have this movement established you can add the Sipping Breath. Inhale through your pelvic floor, drawing energy up the Inner Flute (the energetic channel that runs from your pelvic floor to the crown of your head,) as you arch the lower back.

3. Exhale with an “Ahhh,” drawing energy down the Inner Flute and out through your pelvic floor. Go at a rate that feels right for you. You may begin to notice an increased awareness of your sexual/life force energy.

4. As you feel ready, try quickening the pace. Relax and enjoy the sensations that arise.

The PC Pump

Next, we add the internal movement, called the PC Pump or Kegel Exercise. This practice strengthens and tones the pelvic floor/PC (pubococcygeus) muscles. Becoming more aware of how to consciously engage these muscles will allow you to more effectively channel your sexual energy. This practice supports both men and women in having multiple full-body orgasms. It can help men to develop the ability to choose when, and if, they ejaculate.

1. Begin by bringing the focus of attention to the pelvic floor. Squeeze the PC muscles, as if you were stopping the flow of urine. See if you can isolate the various muscles around the urethra and anus.

2. Allow your arms to rest at your sides. As you inhale, contract your PC muscles. At the same time, squeeze your hands into fists as a reminder to do this PC contraction.

3. As you exhale, relax your hands and your PC muscles. Do this several times until it feels natural.

4. Next, add the Sipping Breath on the inhale and “Ahhh” on the exhale.

5. Once that is established, add the Pelvic Rock. On the inhale, sip in the breath as you arch the back and squeeze the PC and fists. On the exhale, make the “Ahhh” sound as you flatten the lower back and relax the PC and hands.

6. Once that is established, continue all the steps and, on the inhale, visualize energy moving up the Inner Flute from the pelvic floor toward the crown. On the exhale, visualize the energy moving back down the Inner Flute to the pelvic floor.

7. As you do this practice, you will become aware of increased energy and vitality circulating throughout the body.

Opening the Inner Flute increases awareness, vitality and, when done regularly, supports you in experiencing increased orgasmic energy- both inside and outside the sexual context!

Practice the Art of Chakra Talk

Chakra Talk

This practice allows you to access the wisdom held in your chakra energy centers. You will lend your voice to the chakra center you want to communicate with it in a direct way. The more you are able to relax and surrender the easier it is to access the wisdom of your chakras speaking  in their unique voice.

Set aside 30-60 minutes for this practice. Make sure the phone is off and that you won’t be disturbed. This can be done alone or with a partner. If done alone have your journal nearby so you can take notes. You may also choose to record the experience. If done with a partner, only one person speaks and the other acts as a witness. They may take notes if that feels appropriate to both parties. The witness should not interrupt the speaker while the chakra is talking.

Begin with a Heart Salutation. Sit across from your partner and look into their eyes. Maintaining eye contact throughout the rest of the process, begin by extending your arms towards the earth, palms together. Then, inhale and keeping your hands in prayer position, bring them to your heart. Exhale, as you bow forward and acknowledge the Divine in each other with the Sanskrit salutation “Namaste.” Namaste means “I honor the Divine in you as a reflection of the Divine in me.” Inhale, as you straighten back up. Finally, exhale as you allow your hands to return to the starting position, pointed towards the earth.

Sit or lie down in a comfortable position. Now,  direct your attention to the chakra you are going to listen to. Take slow, gentle, relaxing breaths into your belly. Relax deeply for about several minutes. As your exhale, breathe out any tension you are holding. As you inhale, breathe in life force energy (pnana/chi/ki) and feel your body being energized.

When you are relaxed, focus your attention on the chakra you feel called to connect with. Place your hands over the area related to that particular chakra. Breathe into it and begin to tune into the energy of this chakra. Invite it to speak through you, say (the name of the chakra,) Example- “Heart, I desire to receive your wisdom and invite you to speak to me through my voice.”

Then allow the chakra to speak to you, in the first person, “I, Heart, want to share that I have been feeling ignored lately. Crystal has been… I would like…. It would be helpful if…” Continue to tune in for 5-10 minutes or longer. There may be pauses as the information is accessed. Stay present with the process until it feels complete.

End with a Heart Salutation.

Yoni Talk and the Goddess Within

I just returned from teaching an Awakening the Goddess Within workshop in North Carolina. Being with this group of women was a fresh reminder of the power we tap into when we are able to stop and listen to our body-wisdom.

“Yoni,” is a Sanskrit word that means cosmic matrix. It is the word we use in Tantra to refer to a woman’s vagina.

If done alone have your journal nearby so you can take notes afterwards. You may also choose to record the experience. If done with a partner, only one person speaks and the other acts as a witness. The witness may take notes if that feels appropriate to both parties.
