Opening the Inner Flute

The ‘Inner Flute,” is the SkyDancing Tantra™  term, for what you may know as the Central Channel or Sushumna. The purpose of this practice is to access and expand awareness of the life-force energy that moves naturally through the body. This practice supports you in being present, having a relaxed body-mind and an open heart. Another benefit is that it helps to amplify and redistribute sexual energy throughout the whole body. This practice is based on the teachings of SkyDancing Tantra™.

The Three Keys of Tantra

1. Breath

2. Sound

3. Movement

We are born knowing Tantra! The three keys are natural and fundamental to the human condition. The first independent act we take at birth is to breathe. After our first breath, we cry (sound) which expands the lungs. These two important acts are crucial for infants to make the shift from living in their mother’s womb to being able to live and breathe on their own. Next, the infant begins to move its arms and legs and explore the space around him/her.

The following practices can be done either standing with legs hip-width apart and knees slightly bent or lying comfortably on your back with the knees bent and feet flat on the floor. I recommend trying it both ways.

The Sipping Breath and “AHHH” Sound

The Sipping Breath amplifies awareness of the inhalation and allows you to draw the air deep into the abdomen. This type of breathing increases the amount of oxygen circulating in the body, which increases the sense of vitality and pleasure we can feel.

1. Begin by puckering your lips as if you are sipping through a straw. Leave a slight gap between the lips and inhale deeply through the mouth, allowing your abdomen to expand fully.

2. Then, relax the mouth and let the air flow out effortlessly, while making the sound “AHHH.”

The Pelvic Rock

Next, we add the external movement, called the Pelvic Rock. This practice opens the sacrum and helps to activate the sexual energy stored in the pelvic bowl.

1. In this practice, you will be focusing on moving the pelvis, by rotating it forward and backward. As you inhale, arch the lower back as the buttocks will stick out slightly. As you exhale, tuck the tailbone under, flattening the lower back. As the pelvis rotates, the whole spinal column is naturally engaged. This causes the head to fall back slightly (as you arch the back) and fall forward slightly (as you round the back).

2. Once you have this movement established you can add the Sipping Breath. Inhale through your pelvic floor, drawing energy up the Inner Flute (the energetic channel that runs from your pelvic floor to the crown of your head,) as you arch the lower back.

3. Exhale with an “Ahhh,” drawing energy down the Inner Flute and out through your pelvic floor. Go at a rate that feels right for you. You may begin to notice an increased awareness of your sexual/life force energy.

4. As you feel ready, try quickening the pace. Relax and enjoy the sensations that arise.

The PC Pump

Next, we add the internal movement, called the PC Pump or Kegel Exercise. This practice strengthens and tones the pelvic floor/PC (pubococcygeus) muscles. Becoming more aware of how to consciously engage these muscles will allow you to more effectively channel your sexual energy. This practice supports both men and women in having multiple full-body orgasms. It can help men to develop the ability to choose when, and if, they ejaculate.

1. Begin by bringing the focus of attention to the pelvic floor. Squeeze the PC muscles, as if you were stopping the flow of urine. See if you can isolate the various muscles around the urethra and anus.

2. Allow your arms to rest at your sides. As you inhale, contract your PC muscles. At the same time, squeeze your hands into fists as a reminder to do this PC contraction.

3. As you exhale, relax your hands and your PC muscles. Do this several times until it feels natural.

4. Next, add the Sipping Breath on the inhale and “Ahhh” on the exhale.

5. Once that is established, add the Pelvic Rock. On the inhale, sip in the breath as you arch the back and squeeze the PC and fists. On the exhale, make the “Ahhh” sound as you flatten the lower back and relax the PC and hands.

6. Once that is established, continue all the steps and, on the inhale, visualize energy moving up the Inner Flute from the pelvic floor toward the crown. On the exhale, visualize the energy moving back down the Inner Flute to the pelvic floor.

7. As you do this practice, you will become aware of increased energy and vitality circulating throughout the body.

Opening the Inner Flute increases awareness, vitality and, when done regularly, supports you in experiencing increased orgasmic energy- both inside and outside the sexual context!

7 Benefits of Erotic Massage

Erotic massage is a wonderful way to relax, connect and explore pleasure with a lover or intimate friend. On the path of Tantra, we enjoy coming together to honor and celebrate the body as a temple of delight. This experience will allow you to explore erotic energy in new ways and is also a wonderful prelude to lovemaking.

7  Benefits of Erotic Massage are:

1) It awakens the senses and activates whole-body healing.

2) It allows you to explore pleasure in new and creative ways.

3) It uses eye contact, connected breathing and touch to enhance intimacy.

4) It creates conscious connection between the giver and the receiver.

5) It uses breath, sound and movement to awaken the full-body orgasm.

6) It melts away the illusion of separation and allows Oneness to emerge.

7) It is a wonderful prelude to orgasmic sex.

Preparation

Prepare a warm, quiet, comfortable place where you won’t be disturbed for the next 2 hours. Make sure all phones are turned off. Light some candles and put on some relaxing, romantic music.

The Heart Salutation

Begin with the Heart Salutation. It is an ancient tantric practice for acknowledging the Divine in each other as you enter into sacred time. Sit across from your partner and look into their eyes. Maintain eye contact throughout the rest of the process. Extend your arms towards the earth, palms together. Inhale and, keeping them together, bring your hands to your heart. Exhale, as you bow forward and acknowledge the Divine in each other. Inhale, as you straighten back up. Finally, exhale as you allow your hands to return to the starting position, pointed towards the earth.

The Bubble

The Bubble calls you into present moment awareness and creates a safe space in which to offer an erotic massage. Make a bubble around you and your partner with your arms so that it surrounds both of you. Remove things from the bubble that won’t serve this process (the past, distractions, anger, worry, etc.) Do this with a gesture, as if physically removing an object, while stating out-loud what you are removing. Next, bring things into your bubble that will enhance your connection (Love, willingness, Presence, trust etc.) Once again, use gestures and spoken words. Here is two examples:

“I release the past.”

” I call in passion.”

Share Your Desires, Fears and Boundaries

Once the bubble is created, share your desires, fears and boundaries related to giving and/or receiving an erotic massage. One person speaks while the other person listens, without judgment or commentary. Then, switch roles. Here is an example:

“My desire is to stay connect to erotic energy.”

“My fear is that I may fall asleep and you may feel hurt or disappointed.”

“My boundary is finish this practice by at 11 pm.”

Healthy Boundaries

People often think of boundaries as walls. Healthy boundaries are actually bridges that bring people together. Intimacy arises when healthy boundaries are honored. You feel safe, are open and present. Boundaries can change, so check-in periodically to see how you are feeling. If your boundary has changed, tell your partner. Please, don’t expect them to read your mind.

Giving an Erotic Massage

Decide who will give and who will receive. Invite the receiver to lay face-down on a massage table, bed or blanket on the floor. Make sure they are warm and comfortable. The giver then grounds him or herself and gently lays their hands on the receiver. Recognize this is a unique opportunity to honor and serve your beloved. Attune yourself to the receiver. One way to attune is by breathing with them for a few minutes.

Begin to awaken their skin by lightly stroking it with feathers, fur or the tips of your fingers. When you are ready, cover their body with warm oil. Use long, slow massage strokes. You are massaging more than the surface of their body. You are connecting to them on multiple levels. Encourage them to take deep breaths, make sounds and move their body. This allows the energy in the body to awaken, move and release. Use different parts of your body- your hair, arms and chest, to massage your partner. Be playful, curious and creative.

About half-way through the allotted time, invite the receiver to roll over. Massage the front of their body with warm oil, again using long strokes. Introduce sound in a new way by toning on their body, using sounds like, Ahh, Yumm or Omm. This can be a powerful tool for activating your partners energy-body.

When they are ready offer to explore their genitals. In SkyDancing Tantra we call the vagina, “Yoni,” which means “Cosmic Matrix” and the penis, “Vajra,” which means “Thunderbolt.” Begin on the outside of the genitals with oil. At first, be gentle and go slow. Allow them time to release any tension in the area. Listen to their body. Watch them respond and become aroused. Focus on what gives them pleasure. Try different strokes. Again, be creative. If you are going to do internal massage, use a water-based lubricant. How much pleasure can they allow? Are they open to exploring the possibility of multiple orgasms?

Close by spooning together and connecting your heart centers with love, compassion and gratitude. Help them to sit up and end with a Heart Salutation. Offer them water or juice to drink and a chocolate or piece of fruit to eat. You may want to share what this experience was like for you. How was it to give and/or receive in this way?

Enjoy!

The Mystical Songs of Lalla

Lalla’s poetry is always an inspiration for me.   She was born in Kashmir in northern India in 1320 and died in 1392.  She was both, a mystic of the Kashmiri Shaivite sect and a Sufi saint. Her poetry are some of the earliest compositions in the Kashmiri language.  She is the Kashmiri equivalent of Germany’s Hildegard of Bingen.

Lalla married at age twelve and moved into her husband’s family home. She was mistreated by her mother-in-law and  her husband. In her early 20s, she left left her marriage and became a disciple of a respected saint in the Kashmir Shaivism tradition of tantra. She dedicated her life to Lord Shiva. Lalla was called to wander from village to village,  nearly naked, and singing songs of rapture. Her short, simple, and direct songs spoke to common people. Her words  open a window to the soul and allow Truth to be seen.

Erotic Poetry Night a Big Success

A Night of Ecstatic and Erotic Poetry
Honoring the Beloved
Saturday, April 2, 2011 7-9 pm
Hosted by ChocolaTree Organic Eatery
& Marketplace ~ in the Garden
1595 West Hwy 89A Sedona, AZ 86336 – (928) 282-2997

April is National Poetry month. In honor of it I was inspired to organize my first poetry event. I invited people to come and share their poems about love, pleasure and bliss. Poetry has the ability to impact people by touching their heart and soul. My desire was to create an intimate evening of ecstatic and erotic poetry where people could open, connect and celebrate.

Over 35 people attended and nine people shared their original poems about human love, spiritual love or the joys of sex. I was deeply touched by all the poetry I heard. Each poet shared something deep, unique and heartfelt. Some honored the Earth, others the complications and joys of love, the depth of spiritual awakening and a few the humor of being alive. It was powerful for me to read my own poems to the crowd and feel just how intimate it is to reveal your heart’s longings and intimate moments of conscious connection. This event was also an opportunity to share with locals information about the upcoming 10th Anniversary Conference on Sexuality and Consciousness. Next time I hope to video the event and have it on YouTube. I also will take pictures next time as well.

The evening ended with a drawing for a Free Pass to the 10th Anniversary Conference on Sexuality and Consciousness, a $450 value. Learn more https://schooloftemplearts.org/2011sedonaconferenceofsexualityandconsciousness

I hope to offer this event again please contact me at 928-282-5483 or

Tantra Tip Of the Day – Three Steps to Bliss

Original art by A. Andrew Gonzalez https://www.sublimatrix.com/
In Sky Dancing Tantra there are 3 steps to ecstasy.

Step 1) The Streaming Reflex is recognizing that your body is made of energy and being able to excite and expand that energy whenever you want to. You can learn to experience orgasmic energy outside of a sexual context. What you discover is that you and not your lover are the one who decides how much pleasure you want to feel. This is awakening the pleasure body.

Step 2) The Ecstatic Response
is the process of containing ecstatic energy and relaxing into it so that it continuously expands. Bliss is born when you learn to relax in high states of arousal. The effect is one of high energy and deep peace. When you master the ecstatic response you move beyond the genital orgasm and experience the full body orgasm. This is awakening into oneness.

Step 3) The Wave of Bliss this final step is the ultimate in Tantric love making. In it you discover how to turn sexual energy into pure bliss. You discover how to circulate your sexual energy with your partner through your inner flutes, from root to crown. This bathes the brain in orgasmic energy. You learn to ride these waves of orgasmic energy for several minutes to several hours. This is awakening the bliss body.

Once to master these 3 steps sex becomes an alchemical experience that transforms the physical body into the light body. Sex becomes a vehicle for spiritual awakening.

Adapted from The Art of Sexual Ecstasy by Margot Anand.

I will be teaching this process June 6-7, 2009 in Sedona, AZ. In my Awakening the Ecstatic Body Level Two course. If you are interested in this course please visit my website or email me.

Tantra Tip of the Day – A Poem of Ecstasy and Love

CommUnion

Midnight communication

Your heart against mine

I slid into your eyes

A door slowly opens

Wide and Spacious

Our souls caress the Divine

Waltzing among the stars

Naked and Free

Hearts and minds as One

The Dance of Shakti and Shiva

My first introduction to this work was in a workshop called the Yin and Yang of Ecstasy, taught by Margot Anand and Jim Benson. That was 5 years ago. I have spent the last 5 years exploring the inner and outer dance of the masculine and feminine energies.

I am still learning how to gracefully “be” in the dance without stepping on his toes or getting my toes stepped on. At times I am in the flow of life, both with myself and my relationships. At other times I still get a bit lost and/or confused. What I have learned, is to see my patterns and recognize the old beliefs much quicker. I also take responsibility for my experience without blaming it on him.

The challenge I have been dealing with recently is, what to do when the man disappears into his cave. I know I should just leave him alone in there, until he comes out on his own. However it sometimes seems like he has forgotten I even exist. So, after what feels to me like a long time, I find myself standing at the mouth of his cave wondering, “Is he ever coming out of there?” This is especially true when I am in a place of wanting his support because I am going through a challenging time. I remind myself that life is a process. I continue to learn how to accept myself, love what is and feel gratitude for my commitment to being whole.

I am passionate about this work. I will be co-facilitating a weekend workshop on this topic with Micheal Pooley Nov. 21-23 in Sedona, AZ. https://www.tantraforawakening.com/
