Opening the Inner Flute

The ‘Inner Flute,” is the SkyDancing Tantra™  term, for what you may know as the Central Channel or Sushumna. The purpose of this practice is to access and expand awareness of the life-force energy that moves naturally through the body. This practice supports you in being present, having a relaxed body-mind and an open heart. Another benefit is that it helps to amplify and redistribute sexual energy throughout the whole body. This practice is based on the teachings of SkyDancing Tantra™.

The Three Keys of Tantra

1. Breath

2. Sound

3. Movement

We are born knowing Tantra! The three keys are natural and fundamental to the human condition. The first independent act we take at birth is to breathe. After our first breath, we cry (sound) which expands the lungs. These two important acts are crucial for infants to make the shift from living in their mother’s womb to being able to live and breathe on their own. Next, the infant begins to move its arms and legs and explore the space around him/her.

The following practices can be done either standing with legs hip-width apart and knees slightly bent or lying comfortably on your back with the knees bent and feet flat on the floor. I recommend trying it both ways.

The Sipping Breath and “AHHH” Sound

The Sipping Breath amplifies awareness of the inhalation and allows you to draw the air deep into the abdomen. This type of breathing increases the amount of oxygen circulating in the body, which increases the sense of vitality and pleasure we can feel.

1. Begin by puckering your lips as if you are sipping through a straw. Leave a slight gap between the lips and inhale deeply through the mouth, allowing your abdomen to expand fully.

2. Then, relax the mouth and let the air flow out effortlessly, while making the sound “AHHH.”

The Pelvic Rock

Next, we add the external movement, called the Pelvic Rock. This practice opens the sacrum and helps to activate the sexual energy stored in the pelvic bowl.

1. In this practice, you will be focusing on moving the pelvis, by rotating it forward and backward. As you inhale, arch the lower back as the buttocks will stick out slightly. As you exhale, tuck the tailbone under, flattening the lower back. As the pelvis rotates, the whole spinal column is naturally engaged. This causes the head to fall back slightly (as you arch the back) and fall forward slightly (as you round the back).

2. Once you have this movement established you can add the Sipping Breath. Inhale through your pelvic floor, drawing energy up the Inner Flute (the energetic channel that runs from your pelvic floor to the crown of your head,) as you arch the lower back.

3. Exhale with an “Ahhh,” drawing energy down the Inner Flute and out through your pelvic floor. Go at a rate that feels right for you. You may begin to notice an increased awareness of your sexual/life force energy.

4. As you feel ready, try quickening the pace. Relax and enjoy the sensations that arise.

The PC Pump

Next, we add the internal movement, called the PC Pump or Kegel Exercise. This practice strengthens and tones the pelvic floor/PC (pubococcygeus) muscles. Becoming more aware of how to consciously engage these muscles will allow you to more effectively channel your sexual energy. This practice supports both men and women in having multiple full-body orgasms. It can help men to develop the ability to choose when, and if, they ejaculate.

1. Begin by bringing the focus of attention to the pelvic floor. Squeeze the PC muscles, as if you were stopping the flow of urine. See if you can isolate the various muscles around the urethra and anus.

2. Allow your arms to rest at your sides. As you inhale, contract your PC muscles. At the same time, squeeze your hands into fists as a reminder to do this PC contraction.

3. As you exhale, relax your hands and your PC muscles. Do this several times until it feels natural.

4. Next, add the Sipping Breath on the inhale and “Ahhh” on the exhale.

5. Once that is established, add the Pelvic Rock. On the inhale, sip in the breath as you arch the back and squeeze the PC and fists. On the exhale, make the “Ahhh” sound as you flatten the lower back and relax the PC and hands.

6. Once that is established, continue all the steps and, on the inhale, visualize energy moving up the Inner Flute from the pelvic floor toward the crown. On the exhale, visualize the energy moving back down the Inner Flute to the pelvic floor.

7. As you do this practice, you will become aware of increased energy and vitality circulating throughout the body.

Opening the Inner Flute increases awareness, vitality and, when done regularly, supports you in experiencing increased orgasmic energy- both inside and outside the sexual context!

The Infinity-Heart Meditation

I am currently in the process of writing a book, guided by the Neteru, who are the gods and goddesses of ancient Egypt.  One day, as I sat in stillness, I was given me this meditation. It can be used to open and connect to Nut, the Sky Mother and Geb, the Earth Father. They are the energy of creation which manifested our universe. They want to connect with our hearts, at this time, so we may wake up and remember who and what we really are.

Doing this meditation will open your heart and expand your awareness. I have been doing it for about a month and find it very powerful, both grounding and opening. I would love your feedback on what you experience when you practice it.

Geologists recently discovered that the core of the Earth is made of a huge iron crystal. Connecting to this crystal core is a great way to tap into the energy of Geb. Begin by breathing into your heart and feel your heart open. Imagine at the base of your spine you have a tap root. Send this tap root down into the crystal core of the Earth. Then send your heart energy down through this tap root and feel it connect with the iron crystal core of the Earth.  Breathe the Earth energy up into your heart. Do this four times.

Next you are going to connect your heart to Galactic Center. Scientists now know that there is a “black hole” at the center of the Milky Way. This black hole is the “womb of creation” at the center of the Milky Way galaxy. Connecting to it is a great way to connect to the energy of Nut, the Sky Mother. Breathe into your heart center and send your heart energy and up into the Galactic Center. Do this four times. Sit quietly for a minute or two and notice how it feels to connect your heart to the Earth and the Sky.

Now, you are going to create an infinity sign with your heart energy. The infinity sign will run vertically between the Galactic Center and the Crystal Core of the Earth. The energy will cross-over at your heart center as it flows from Sky to Earth and back again. This infinity-wave opens, activates and energizes your heart. Bringing you into a deeper connection with  Source.

Begin, by breathing the Sky energy down from the Galactic Center along the left side of your head and into your heart. Allow it to crossover at your heart and continue down the right side of your body and into the Crystal Core of the Earth. Then breathe the energy up the left side of your body crossing over at your heart and continuing up along the right side of your head and out into the Galactic Center.  Do this at least four times or more, until you feel complete.

This meditation allows you to become a “light-bridge” for so heart-consciousness can dance freely between Heaven and Earth. As we enter 2012 it is important for these energies to flow through and energize our hearts and for our hearts to bridge the Earth and Sky. This meditation will keep you open, grounded and present to messages from Source. I recommend practicing it two times a day.

Shamanic Breathwork Changes Lives

Here is a note one participant posted after the workshop. Keith wrote: “Since I went to an all day Shamanic Breathwork class with John Livingston and Crystal Dawn I can now breathe so much amazingly more – so amazing!”

On Saturday, October 29, 2011, ten people showed up in Sedona for a day of Shamanic Breathwork with Crystal Dawn Morris and John Livingston, Shamanic Breathwork Facilitators. It was a powerful day of healing, transformation and empowerment. The morning began with an introduction to the Shamanic breathwork process. SBW is a journey through the energy centers of the body, which are called chakras. It uses circular breathing to activate and move energy through the body until” you are surprised.” Once you enter into an experience the breathing is no longer focused on. The circular breathing is returned to whenever it is needed.

The benefits are SBW are numerous including: clearing blocked energy, physical healing, life review, soul return, increased vitality, insight into your life purpose, healing of family legacy issues, re-birthing, increased self-acceptance and compassion for others.

We most commonly work  in dyads with one person journeying while the other person is present to witness and support their process.  Shamanic Breathwork  is done to powerful music that takes you on a journey through the chakras and activates each person’s “inner shaman.”

After the first round is complete, those who journeyed have an opportunity to create a mandala that reflects their experience in some way. Images are a wonderful way to record what happened without activating the rational mind. Journalling may also be done alone or in dyads. We then took a lunch break.

After lunch, the dyads reversed roles and the process was repeated using different music. Following the afternoon art process we took a break. We then broke up into two process groups. Processing a SBW journey is much like processing a dream. Information may come to us in a variety of ways- literally, metaphorically, physically, via the senses and spiritually.  Processing allows each person time to share their experience and their mandala with the group. If they want it feedback is given. This is when we “mine the gold” of our process. Often, ah-ha moments occur that clarify what occurred and help to integrate the information received. This can be a bonding experience.

We close the day by coming back together as a circle.  We share from our hearts and offer gratitude for the gifts we have received, for our life  breath.

Blessings on all my relations.

The Power of Shamanic Breathwork

The 3 Keys of SkyDancing Tantra are breath, sound and movement and all are incorporated in the Shamanic Breathwork process. Breathwork is a powerful tool for healing and transformation. Over the years I have experienced may different forms of breathwork; from Lamaze breathing, when I had my kids, to body-centered therapy, and Osho’s active breath meditations, so I wasn’t expecting Shamanic Breathwork to be that that different from other things I had done before.

I was first introduced to Shamanic Breathwork by Linda Star Wolf and Brad Collins in Sedona, May of 2010. Since I was already familiar with breathwork and shamanism I mainly attended their event to meet them and show my support for their work. I was blown-away by my first Shamanic Breathwork journey. The combination of the music, circular breathing, shamanic healing and sacred art was profound. I recognized that this was something I wanted to become proficient at and share with others. Since then I have experienced the process 12 times. Each time has been powerful and unique. Over the past 9 months I have experienced many benefits from this work. It has unlocked and cleared old patterns and enhanced my ability to live in flow and trust Source.

Here are a few testimonials from others:

I have found the Shamanic Breathwork Process to be incredible for me at a personal level. It has helped to open doors that I didn’t even know I had. It has also been a remarkable tool to use in my workshops for health professionals.

– Lee Lipsenthal, MD, ABHM

CEO, Finding Balance in a Medical Life

As holistic physicians, my husband and I are familiar with many different modalities and have seen the value in looking “outside the box” of traditional Western medical techniques. Shamanic Breathwork is one of the most powerful healing modalities we have seen. It gets to the heart of the physical, emotional or spiritual problem in order for shifts to occur very rapidly. In addition, it taps into the person’s core strengths and honors the deep wisdom within us all, since true healing inevitably starts from within.

– Molly Roberts, MD, MS

Physician

Synchronicity Center & Canyon Ranch Health Resort

Tucson, Arizona

I confess that I approached the technique of breathwork with some skepticism as to its value, having tried so many experiences that failed to make a meaningful difference in my life. Well, all it took was a one day introductory Shamanic Breathwork session for me to know that this unique combination of altered state experiencing of guided, theme based teachings was an extremely effective method of processing core level issues, issues that can be huge stumbling blocks to our spiritual progress.

I am truly thankful for the blessing this program has been for me, and would highly recommend it to anyone dedicated to their spiritual journey. Nothing I have experienced previously has been more beneficial. It has made a believer out of me in the work being done here, and I intend to support it in any way that I can.

Love Until it Hurts- Ken Wilber You Tube

This clip is worth watching. In it Ken describes the differences between masculine and feminine approaches to meditation. The masculine stares at a blank wall and the feminine loves till it hurts.

Tantra Tip of the Day- Practice Connected Breathing

Connected breathing begins by being present with your breath. Allow your breath to naturally deepen and find its own relaxed pace. As you relax and watch the breath the mind tends to relax. As the mind and body relax, the breath allows you to access emotions and stuck energy you have been holding onto. If emotions arise just be present with them, without thinking about them. Instead, breathe the emotions through the body and watch them transform.

If you notice tension in the body, breathe into the tension and send love into that area of the body. Notice the contraction begin to soften. If thoughts arise let them be as clouds in the sky. Watch them morph and change without becoming attached to them. Always stay connected to the breath, if you get lost for a moment or minutes just return to the breath.

Connected breathing can also be done with a partner in a variety of positions. Here are a few- sit facing each other while you eye gaze and breathe together. Lay face-to-face, in the scissors position, eye gaze and breathe together or try lying in the spooning position with eyes closed as you snuggle and breathe together.

Doing connected breathing helps you to develop presence and equanimity as you let go of thoughts and feelings. It helps you to increase energy, decrease stress, feel more connected, let go of fears and develop more compassion for yourself and others.

Tantra Tip of the Day- Practice the Quantum Light Breath

“The Quantum Light Breath is the most efficient process I have encountered to cleanse the soul and inspire creativity. I highly recommend it as a daily meditation.”

— Margot Anand,
Author and teacher of The Art of Everyday Ecstasy

What is Quantum Light Breath?
The Quantum Light Breath is a breathing meditation process that accelerates personal transformation by releasing withheld feelings and revealing unconscious programs. It is designed to take participants into an expanded state of consciousness and ultimately into blissful embodiment. Here, Universal Love is experienced as a natural reality, not as an unreachable concept, where there is a deep connection to the Universal Intelligence. Quantum Light Breath participants often describe “Satori,” or awakening experiences during the practice.

How Can I Experience Quantum Light Breath?
Listen to a recording made in 2005 with Richard Bock and the Quantum Light Breath Orchestra, this live recording is a powerful, profound, and transformative experience. With deep effective guidance, Richard facilitates an exploration of the healing power of the breath, combined with the deep vibrational sounds of the didgeridoo and toning, as well as flute, harmonium, Tibetan bells and bowls, drums, and other musical instruments. In an atmosphere of permission and direct experience, old belief and holding patterns can easily give way to reveal the radiance of our true nature.
